I for one am very excited about the launch of The NFFFs new website and amazing new APP which I believe will be a fantastic tool to keep everyone updated and in touch with everything that is going on in our industry .

There’s lots going on right now with Scotland once again being well represented in the National Fish and Chip Awards and I wish everyone entering the the final stages the very best of luck. After the success of the competition relaunch last year , this year is gearing up to be another overwhelming success and some amazing coverage for our industry.

Food inflation is still very high and it’s looking like it’s going to be another very tough season for potato prices . I would urge everyone to look at your prices and have the courage to get the right price because with all the media coverage I do believe customers expect the price to be rising but hopefully fair and understandable . Portion control and wastage are also worth keeping an eye on .
I have certainly noticed in my shops that customers may be opting for a smaller fish because of price and I have also seen the sales of other products like sausages and puddings rise . I have no problems with this because I’d rather have that than my regular customers go elsewhere . I also run some deals particularly aiming at quieter times such as January and February.

Finally I would like to organise a meeting with a small but very open agenda sometime in the New Year for anyone who would be interested to attend via zoom to discuss openly any issues or ideas we may have. May be an ideal time for your promising youngster in your shop to attend to release some young ideas to some of us ageing friers 😂.

Please feel free to contact myself because I would love to hear from . In the unlikely event I can’t help you , someone in the NFFF will.
