JJ Foodservice is the first UK wholesaler to offer open banking for both online and in-branch payments. After successfully launching Pay by Bank in 2022 to address rising credit card fees, the company now allows customers to pay directly from their bank accounts.
The transition to open banking, via Trustly, has resulted in significant annual savings for the national wholesaler. JJ Foodservice has now expanded its Pay by Bank option to counter payments, in addition to online payments, making it available for all transactions.
Mick Dudley, Chief Technology Officer, noted, “We’re all about making things easy and affordable for our customers. Pay by Bank offers a cost-effective way to pay, which allows us to redirect savings back to them so they can concentrate on running their businesses.”
The in-branch Pay by Bank option debuted at JJ Foodservice’s new Wimbledon branch and was recently introduced to the Enfield Head Quarters. More than 55% of JJ Foodservice customers now Pay by Bank. Plans are underway to extend the service to all 10 remaining branches.
Jussi Lindberg, Chief Revenue Officer at Trustly, said: “Open banking payments are quickly becoming the preferred payment method, and we’re excited to enhance the checkout experience for JJ Foodservice customers. They can now improve conversion rates, make huge savings, and deliver top-quality service. Trustly is committed to expanding open banking solutions across the UK and helping as many companies and customers as possible benefit from its advantage.”
