‘The Trustees of the Fishermen’s Mission are pleased to announce the appointment of Marc Evans as the new Chief Executive of the charity to replace the current incumbent, David Dickens, who will retire at the end of March 2022.  Marc will join the charity on 14 March 2022.

Born and raised just outside Reading in Berkshire, Marc Evans joined the Royal Navy in 1985.  A logistics & personnel administration specialist, he has had a diverse and rewarding career that has taken him around the world in a variety of ships and shore-based roles including extended periods in Hong Kong, the Falkland Islands, the Middle East and Afghanistan and closer to home Portsmouth, Plymouth, Barrow in Furness and Rosyth.  Marc’s last appointment was at the Navy Headquarters in Portsmouth as the Chief of Staff to the Director of People & Training and Naval Secretary.

Marc has been local to the South Coast for over 25 years and has been a Foundation Governor of a successful secondary school and Director of a Multi Academy Trust – and for the past 5 years as the Chair of both committees – he also enjoys walking the South Downs Way and coastal paths.

Marc is delighted to be joining the Fishermen’s Mission saying, “I have spent much of my professional life in ‘people support’ roles, making lives as good as they can be in some particularly challenging environments. I am very much looking forward to continuing the exceptional work of the Fishermen’s Mission with its loyal staff and supporters and engaging with as many people as possible in this unique part of the maritime community.’

Michael Vlasto, Chairman of the Fishermen’s Mission, commented: ‘ We are very pleased to welcome Marc to the Fishermen’s Mission. He brings with him a wealth of executive, operational and people skills with which to build on the charity’s progressive development over the last decade.’
