The MSC UK Awards are annual awards that recognise the achievements and performance of businesses and individuals in the UK who support sustainable fishing and seafood.
This year, the MSC UK Awards marked their 10th anniversary, and were held at the historic Fishmongers’ Hall in London.
Some of the most prestigious awards presented are the MSC UK Foodservice Champion and Marketing Champion which this year, were awarded to Fish City, an NFFF member shop in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
Fish City was also recognised as the UK’s Fish and Chip Restaurant of the Year at the National Fish and Chip Awards 2023.
“At Fish City, we have taken our commitment to sustainability to the next level. We are the first retailer and restaurant on the island of Ireland to be certified by the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC).
For over 20 years, the MSC has been part of a global effort to keep our oceans healthy and full of life. When you choose fish or seafood with the ‘blue fish’ eco-label, you can be sure that the fish you are eating can be traced back to a sustainable and well-managed wild fishery.”
Congratulations to Fish City for winning this award. You have made a positive difference to our oceans by serving sustainable seafood and have set a great example for our industry.
